Sing it!

I was driving along today and listening to Alanis Morisette's classic Jagged Little Pill album when "Hand In My Pocket" came on. You ever have that moment when you are sure the song was written just for you at that moment?? Well I had one of those. So I listened to it again. And again. By this time I was singing right along and probably making the other drivers laugh their asses off.

Here are the lyrics-
_____
I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah

I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful, baby

And what it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

I feel drunk but I'm sober
I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah

I care but I'm restless
I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry, baby

And what it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be quite alright
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette

And what it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign

I'm free but I'm focused
I'm green but I'm wise
I'm hard but I'm friendly, baby

I'm sad but I'm laughing
I'm brave but I'm chicken shit
I'm sick but I'm pretty, baby

And what it all boils down to
Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is playing a piano

And what it all comes down to my dear friends, yeah
Is that everything is just fine fine fine
'Cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxi cab
_______

I must say the line "I'm free but I'm focused, I'm green but I'm wise" especially resonates with me :)

Is there a particular song that resonates for you right now?

I've always felt that Safety Dance by Men Without Hats sums me and my approach to life up pretty well.

My uni friend and I had a whole dance to that song. It was tragic and hilarious. You've just taken me back to endless
summers of driving to Torquay and back with Alanis blasting, 4 of us squished in a little hatchback Carolla.

Oh they were some awesome days in the life of me.

What was the question again?

Sadly, most of my music listening still revolves around Justine Clarke and the Wiggles. Hmmmm hot potato .... or maybe opposite day.

I loved Alanis! But the artist of the moment for me is similiar with passion and female energy- Adele. Love rolling in the deep. It gets me yelling and singing :)
